| DASD Failures are Inevitable | |
| Data loss should not be. MCM will install and initialize a DASD unit for each type of drive required by your AS/400. The drives will be left non-configured and powered. MCM provides this valuable if not crucial service for $500.00 plus drive costs. Your level of protection is raised to a higher level. Why would you consider doing this? This way the drives will be powered up and running non-configured on your system. | |
|
ADVANTAGES: | |
|
1. The
IBM C.E. could be directly at your site and replace the defective drive
immediately. 2. There will be no delays for parts availability, order delays, or mistakes. 3. There usually is a 30 minute delay for a drive to be initialized, there is no delay under this program. 4. Any diagnostic repair will be done on the drive that is removed after your system is up and fully protected again. 5. The chances of a drive failing after it has been unpowered, removed and removed and shipped from the parts department are significantly greater than one that has been powered in your own system.(RAID5 only) |

At present full maintenance charges, this yields $10,800 on a 5083 dasd tower with a 5058 top hat per year. If you had 5 towers you would be paying $54,000 per annum on these . With MCM you pay 10% ($5400) and if you had 2 dasd failures an extra $1,200 for a total of $6,600. This represents a savings of $47,400 over standard IBM I.O.R. This is a 87% cost savings over normal maintenance. When the CPUs were new the maintenance charge was expensive but justifiable for any single user. However, when grouped together, the cost is in fact obscene because of the reliability |

Disaster Recovery Maintenance from M.C.M. Inc. will provide the best responsein the industry combined with the most reliable computer in the industry. Customers pay the maintenance on the CPU because they require maintenance on their DASD. An unprotected DASD failure is worse than a CPU failure because when the CPU is repaired the data is intact.Up to three years ago, one customer was told by an IBM specialists from Rochester that there had only been two mirroring failures world wide. Allowing for patriotic exaggeration, the failure rate of a Bus level mirrored AS/400,the DASD portion, would approach or surpass the reliability of the CPU. per year. Please click here to read and learn how MCM can provide your company with substantial cost savings while increasing your recovery and reliability. |

Case Study 1 One organization serviced by MCM over the past 3 years realized savings of $20,000 per month on revenues of $30,000 per month. This represents a total savings of $720,000 over the same period. Case Study 2 A large multinational electronics manufacturer after two and one half years using MCM Inc. for all their DASD service realized a savings of $110,000 on an equivalent billing of $130,000. This customer didn't have the highest-level protection due to system constraints. With RAID5 protection redundancy was not an option, they did however have superior service because spare HAD's and controllers were placed on-site. The single drive failure that did occur was responded to in twenty minutes and their full RAIDS protection was reestablished in one hour and twenty minutes from the time the service call was placed. This is only possible when the parts are on-site. This company now entrusts the DASD on its AS/400 model 840/12 to MCM. |

Disaster Recovery Maintenance | |
|
All maintenance contracts on 9406 AS/400 models have in effect been disaster protection because the failure rates of CPUs are so low they approach the percentages for the combined effects of fires, air conditioning failures and sabotage. Downtime numbers related to strictly hardware failures on CPUs are less than 4 hours per year. These figures incorporate all CPUs no matter how they are protected (raid or mirroring). This low downtime figure includes unscheduled downtime due to DASD failures and LIC problems. CPU component failures are so rare on a AS/400 that no one tracks them. Examine the case studies examples we created click here.. |
